Listen...I Get It
Although I have been a part of many Mastermind groups, I have stayed away from running one for a couple of reasons...
I was hesitant to do one myself because I didn't want to take my eyes off my own business.
But, if I am to be honest, I didn't want to have people in the group that just don't fit with my core values. And not core values as if I think I am better than anyone else, but those who aren't on the same mission.
Because here's what happens in a lot of Mastermind groups...
I was in a fitness MM group where each time we meet live, roughly 3-4 months in between meetings, more than half of the group got nothing accomplished. There was no interaction in between meetings and the people just reverted back to what they were doing before. No work was put in to improve, no progress, the group stagnated.
It infuriates me.
There have been other groups that just lets anyone in. I never wanted to be a part of a group where people don't want to get better. And not just tell themselves that they want to get better, but to actually make the changes needed to get better.
Yes, I understand that life gets in the way sometimes, and there are circumstances that are out of our control. But I also understand that success comes from those who are consistently putting in the work.
I do 100% believe in Mastermind groups and working with likeminded people. It's so valuable and gives you a different perspective and insight on your own business. The right mastermind group makes you level up in all areas of your life.
I believe in it so much that I am always in a MM group myself. I need to constantly push myself to get better (plus I love to learn and network with those who are lifelong learners too). I was in Frank Kern's Mastermind, Yanik Silver's, War Room (Ryan Deiss of Digital Marketer) and now am in the Arete Syndicate (run by Andy Frisella and Ed Mylett). I have come in and spoke and shared at Pat Rigsby's, Todd Durkin's and Craig Ballantyne's groups and MMs.
With the amount of MM groups that I have been a part of I figured out what works and even the types of people I like to work with.
With the amount of people looking for a MM group they can trust, coupled with the social media onslaught of shady 'fitness coaches' that say they can grow your business although they haven't built one themselves, I am now ready to start my own MM group and go all-in.
...but, the Mastermind has to be different.
It has to challenge everyone in the group to grow and get better so that we can collectively make a bigger impact on the industry. It might sound crazy, but I believe this group can and will change our industry. There are so many coaches and professionals that are unhappy with what is going on in our profession and I know that we can do better.
I personally selected each person in this group based on their application and want to make sure everyone is a fit and is on the same mission.
It's not for everyone. If you're not ready, I get it and completely understand, some people are content and happy where they are at and if that's you, that's fine, you weren't meant for this group anyway.
It's a limited group since I will be interacting with each person and I want to make sure the group is small enough to bond.

One thing I will say is that I have gained a lot of experience in the sports performance industry since starting Athletes Acceleration close to 15 years ago.
I started Athletes Acceleration in 2004 and am the owner and founder of the National Sports Performance Association (NSPA). I run one of the largest sports performance education companies around, the fastest growing sports performance business license program, have run some of the largest sports clinics in the US, was a former co-owner of the #1 youth fitness & sports performance business coaching programs in the U.S., launched some of the biggest education programs in the industry, have been called in to consult with marketing strategy for the biggest names in our industry, am a former co-owner of the International Youth Conditioning Association (IYCA), created an Amazon best selling book, and have made the Entrepreneur Franchise 500 when I was a previous owner of one of the top fitness franchises.
I have had good and bad partnerships. I have businesses that didn't serve me well anymore that I had to sell. I have had projects that failed. I have felt overwhelmed. I have been down to my last dollar. With all of this, I have a different perspective on things and a lot to share.
I am an actual business owner that does real work. I've made mistakes but bounce back. I am a life-long learner and a constant implementor. I love our industry but I also know there are changes that need to be made.
I have been in many different roles in sports & fitness and I always take pride in what I do. I want to be the best. I want to dominate. My mentality is to win. So it always bothers me when I see Facebook ads from self proclaimed 'gurus' claiming to have all the secrets to success and with their secret magic bullet formula you can have success too.
Every time I see these ads or these 'gurus' I think of that one joke: "Want to learn how to make a make a $100,000? Well, just pay me a $100,000 and I will show you how I did it." That's pretty much what they do. They haven't actually built anything themselves.
I might be preaching to the choir here and you are probably just as sick of seeing those messages as I am, but instead of just complaining about it, I actually want to do something about it.
I get it though, running a business and scaling it is hard. Even when you start to have some success, plateaus hit and it's difficult to break through.
What you know right now has gotten you to where you are. So in order to grow, as a person, as a business, you need to learn more and from the people who have been to where you want to go.
I know I stagnated for a few years, not because I wasn't working, but because I really didn't know what to do next. I was willing to do the work and I worked a ton, but my skills that got me there were keeping me there. I needed to learn more to get to where I wanted to be. My growth came from learning from those who were at that next level and as my new skillset grew, so did my business.
This new Mastermind group is for people that want more...that are not satisfied because they know that they can and should be doing better. It's not for people who want to just be above-average.
This is also why I have brought in my friend and sports performance & fitness business expert Pat Rigsby to run the group with me.

What does the investment look like for the Accelerator Mastermind?
On the onset of starting this group, the plan was to run the mastermind group for $25,000 (this is less than half of the cost of one of the mastermind groups that I am currently in and totally worth it). I understand that the industry we are in, we want to make money, but the real reason why we do what we do is because we are passionate about helping others.
After reading all the applications from a wide range of professionals, I've decided to make it much more affordable.
